Dekalog : audio-video mix out on De'fchild Productions on DVD

Two years in the works, and finally materialized! I made a mix exclusively from first 10 records released by excellent San Francisco label De'fchild Productions (now defunct), lead by Ruoho Ruotsi. Hence the title "Dekalog" (also a nod to a seminal film by Krzysztof Kieślowski). It is now out as a DVD, coupled with an outstanding and truly original video handmade by Sue-C (best known as Sue Costabile, worked with Kit Clayton and AGF amongst others).

Ну вот и пришла пора закрыть мой официально самый главный гештальт, которому в 2017 году исполнился 21 год. В 1996 году рижский ансамбль Yaputhma Sound System - или точнее, инопланетный музыкально-цирковой космический корабль-призрак, у одного из рулей которого мне довелось высшее счастье потанцевать в пору вечнозелёной молодости - выпустил дебютный (а также единственный официальный, т.е. записанный в студии и распространявшийся реальным издательством Annemarie Records ) альбом “ Rīgas Disco ”. Только на кассете (CD тогда ещё не были широко распространены в Латвии). Тиражом, вроде бы, порядка 1000 экз. Который и был вскоре распродан и никогда с тех пор не переиздавался - разве что лежал себе тихонько на yaputhma.bandcamp.com для бесплатного скачивания всем желающим. Собственно, он и сейчас там же лежит и так же бесплатно скачиваем. Boom. BIG BADA BOOM. A never-before published footage from LTV archives... Yaputhma Sound System playing live @ Bildes , annual festival in Riga, Latvia, December 1996. As seen on Latvian TV - first 10 minutes of 20-minute performance, featuring the band supported by dancing raver friends. Performed is a semi-improvised set not completely typical for YaSoSy: trading songs/vocalising, trademark delayed guitar sound and trading live rave'n'roll drumming for steady programmed beats it was the only time Yaputhma Sound System has ever used computer on stage. Partly it was a kind of a sneer towards the classic-rock-guitar nature of the festival, partly - a decision to try something different instead of popular hits expected from the band who was already sick of them at the time. A 20-minute fragment of the live show captured by Kristaps Krēsliņš  of Mācītājs on Acid . Mad Mix was a legendary underground music club in Riga, active in the 90s and very important for the scene at that time. YaSoSy played lots of times there, developing its sound and learning to fly together with the crowd who in turn was learning to trade traditional rock concert attitude for a true rave vibe. Thanks to Sergej Bainenkov for video processing. Оказывается, видеозаписи тоже не горят - не только рукописи. Напротив, они иногда вылеживаются на полочке и запиской в бутылке из другого века, другой жизни находят своего адресата через 22 года... Недавно волею судеб меня нашёл фрагмент видеозаписи одного из многих концертов, которые дала Yaputhma Sound System в далеком 1996 году в важнейшем андерграундном рижском клубе - Mad Mix. Клуб этот находился в подвальном помещении на улице А.Бриана, в квартале, который занимал крупнейший производитель алкоголя в Латвии - Latvijas Balza...
